Summer Term 1

Hello and welcome to the Class 6 page. Most of the information you require about Class 6 can be found here. There will also be regular updates on Class Dojo. If you have any questions or would like to know more, please just ask!

This half-term, our topic is Egypt. Here is an overview of what we’ll be exploring across all our subjects:

English – We’ll be reading The Egyptian Cinderella by Shirley Climo. Children will focus on writing a fantasy story.

Maths – We will be learning Fractions, Position and Direction, Time, Addition and Subtraction, and Multiplication and Division.

Science – Our focus is Electricity.

History – The children will be learning all about Ancient Egyptian civilisations.

RE – In Sikhism, we will be learning about why the Gurus are important to Sikhs, Guru Nanak, and The 10 Gurus Baisakhi.

PE – We will be developing our skills in Netball.

Art – Our unit is 3D - Clay. We will be creating an Ancient Egyptian Canopic jar.

PSHE – Our topic is 'Being My Best'.

Music – The children will be using their voice and performing Jazz.

French - J'apprends le français I Am Learning French.

We’re looking forward to a half-term full of exciting, hands-on learning!

Timetable

 

PE

Our PE day this half-term is on Wednesday.

Please arrive at school in your PE kit:

  • Plain, dark tracksuit bottoms/ plain, dark shorts
  • Plain white t-shirt
  • Blue school jumper, cardigan or hoodie.
  • Trainers
  • No earrings

Swimming

This half-term, the children will be having swimming lessons at Marl Pits each Friday.

They will need to bring a towel, a swimming costume or trunks (shorts and bikinis are not permitted at the baths) and children with long hair must bring a swimming hat.

Armbands are provided at the pool.

No money is required.

No jewellery can be worn. It is advised that earrings and other items of jewellery be left at home.

Children who suffer from asthma should take their inhalers with them.

The water treatment system at Marl Pits now uses salt rather than chemical chlorine and therefore goggles should not be needed, even for those with sensitive eyes.
