Spring Term 1

Hello and welcome to the Class 5 page. Most of the information you require about Class 5 can likely be found here. However, feel free to get in touch with me (Mr Bell) via the office or catch me at the door if you have any other questions.

As ever, this half-term is jam-packed with lots of new and exciting learning. In English, we will be learning to write a setting description for our fiction unit and how to write good, clear instructions in our non-fiction unit. In maths, we will continue to learn about telling the time but will then revisit place value, mass, volume and capacity, along with addition, subtraction and money. Many of these topics in maths have already been covered this year, so this is very much about building on existing knowledge and pushing to a deeper level of understanding.

Similarly, science will see us sticking with the animals, including humans topic but this time we will be learning all about growth and staying healthy.

In RE, we are covering Judaism and in art we are looking at and recreating the work of an African artist called Edward Tingatinga, which fits nicely with our Geography topic of Africa. This is by no means exhaustive, and please do feel free to contact me via Dojo if you have any questions about what is coming up in the Spring term in the Class 5 curriculum.

PE and Outdoor Provision

Our PE day will be Monday this half-term.

Please ensure children are dressed suitably in keeping with the uniform policy.

Appropriate PE clothing really does help ensure the success and safety of our sessions.

PE Kit:

White T-Shirt, black or navy joggers, trainers, school sweatshirt or hoodie.

Outdoor provision, which has been taking place each Friday, will not be continued throughout January and February. It is important that we let the ground recover and regenerate before it is used again later in Spring.
