Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely Easter! We’re looking forward to another fun-filled and engaging half term, with lots of exciting learning opportunities planned across the curriculum.
Here’s a look at what your child will be learning this half term:
- English
We'll be exploring the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The children will enjoy learning and retelling the story and will write their own, innovated section. We will also be writing instructions to make a bird feeder. The children will continue to have daily phonics lessons, daily whole class reading sessions, daily handwriting sessions, and daily spelling sessions.
- Maths
This half term, we will cover many different mathematical concepts. We will begin by learning about number and place value, followed by addition and subtraction, fractions, measurement (capacity and volume), geometry (position and direction), and time.
- Science
We’ll be continuing our learning about Animals including Humans, this half term focusing on Habitats.
- History
We'll learn about a significant person in History, Learie Constantine. We will discover who he is and why he is so significant, the challenges he faced and how he overcame them, and why he was awarded the Trinity Cross.
- PE (Physical Education)
This half term, we'll be focusing on Fitness and Net and Wall Games.
- RE (Religious Education)
Our topic is Christianity, thinking about how Christians show that they belong to God, through the rite of Baptism.
- PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education)
Our theme this half term is Being my Best. We will learn how to set goals for ourselves and how to develop positive strategies to achieve those goals through a growth mindset approach. We will also learn how to take care of ourselves, physically and mentally, including good hygiene, healthy eating, sleep routines, and managing screen time.
- Music
In Music, we’ll be using the genre of Musical Theatre to develop our use of voice and performing skills.
- Computing
We'll be learning about Programming Animations.
We can't wait to explore these topics together and see the children's enthusiasm for learning shine through. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
If you have any questions about our curriculum this half term, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Our PE day is Monday.
