Spring Term 1

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely break. We’re looking forward to a fun-filled and engaging half term, with lots of exciting learning opportunities planned across the curriculum.

Here’s a look at what your child will be exploring this half term:

  • English πŸ“– – We’ll be exploring the story of Anansi and the magic stick. The children will enjoy retelling the story, acting it out, and even writing their own versions. The children will continue to have daily phonics lessons and daily whole class reading sessions.

  • Maths πŸ”’ – Our focus will be on place value, mass, volume and capacity, along with addition, subtraction and money, helping children grow in confidence with various areas in Maths.

  • Science πŸ”¬ – We’ll be continuing to learn about Animals including Humans but this time we will be learning all about growth and staying healthy.

  • PE 🀸 – This half term we’ll focus on dance and sending and receiving skills.

  • RE πŸ•‰οΈ –We are covering Judaism, thinking about why some people might put their trust in God.

  • πŸ—ΊοΈ Geography
We'll explore the African village of Mugurameno in Zambia. We will use maps to locate it, explore its features, and look at the similarities and differences between life in Mugurameno Village and life in Crawshawbooth.

  • Art- We are looking at and recreating the work of an African artist called Edward Tingatinga, which fits nicely with our Geography topic of Africa.

  • 🧠 PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education)
Our theme this half term is Keeping Safe, encouraging the children to think about their own safety and the safety of others, and who they can talk to if they have any worries.

  • Music 🎢 – We’ll be using the genre of Reggae to practise using our voices and performing

  • Computing πŸ’»
We'll be learning about Digital Writing and Making Music.

We can’t wait to explore these topics together and see the children’s enthusiasm for learning shine through. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

If you have any questions about our curriculum this half term, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
