Summer Term 1

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely Easter break. We’re looking forward to a fun-filled and engaging half term, with lots of exciting learning opportunities planned across the curriculum.

Here’s a look at what your child will be exploring this half term:

  • English πŸ“– – We’ll be exploring the story of The Woolly Bear Caterpillar to fit in with our topic of Animals and Life Cycles in Science. We will also be writing an explanation of the life cycle of a caterpillar. 

  • Maths πŸ”’ – Our focus will be on place value, addition and subtraction, capacity and volume, along with fractions, position and direction and shape. 

  • Science πŸ”¬ – We’ll be continuing to learn about Animals including Humans but this time we will be learning all about habitats in our local area.

  • PE 🀸 – This half term we’ll focus on fitness and Cricket.

  • RE πŸ•‰οΈ –We are covering Christianity, thinking about why Christians might show how they 'belong' to God.

  • πŸ—ΊοΈ History
    We'll explore a significant person in history - Learie Constantine. Learie ws a famous cricketer and played for the Lancashire League. 

  • DT- We will be making smoothies and a healthy meal.

  • 🧠 PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education)
    Our theme this half term is Being my Best.

  • Music 🎢 – We’ll be using the genre of Country Music to practise using our voices and performing.

  • Computing πŸ’»
    We'll be learning about Programming animations using Scratch.

We can’t wait to explore these topics together and see the children’s enthusiasm for learning shine through. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Please arrive to school in your PE kit:

  • Plain, dark tracksuit bottoms/Plain, dark shorts
  • Plain white t-shirt
  • Blue school jumper/cardigan/hoodie (no other hoodies)
