Autumn Term 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely half term. We’re looking forward to a fun-filled and engaging half term, with lots of exciting learning opportunities planned across the curriculum.

Here’s a look at what your child will be exploring this half term:

  • English ๐Ÿ“– – We’ll be exploring the story of What the Ladbird Heard. The children will enjoy retelling the story, acting it out, and even writing their own versions.

  • Maths ๐Ÿ”ข – Our focus will be on Sequencing, Fractions, Capacity and Volume, Money and Time, helping children grow in confidence with various areas in Maths.

  • Science ๐Ÿ”ฌ – We’ll be continuing to learn about Animals including Humans. We will learn how to identify and name a variety of common animals including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. They learn how to identify and name a variety of common animals that are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. And finally, they learn how to describe and compare the structure of a variety of common animals.

  • History๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ – We will be learning all about the history of farming in Rossendale. We will look at the changes in farming over the years, focussing on changes in milking, hay making and tractors.

  • PE ๐Ÿคธ – This half term we’ll focus on ball skills and gymnastics.

  • RE ๐Ÿ•‰๏ธ – Our topic is Christianity, exploring why Jesus is special to Christians.

  • PSHE ๐Ÿ’ฌ – We’ll think about Valuing Difference, thinking about what makes us who we are, how we make others feel and being kind.

  • Music ๐ŸŽถ – The children will be learning our Nativity songs. We are very excited for this!

  • Computing ๐Ÿ’ป – We’ll be learning how to create pictograms and block charts.

We can’t wait to explore these topics together and see the children’s enthusiasm for learning shine through. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

If you have any questions about our curriculum this half term, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
