Spring Term 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely break. We’re looking forward to a fun-filled and engaging half term, with lots of exciting learning opportunities planned across the curriculum.

Here’s a look at what your child will be exploring this half term:

  • English πŸ“– – We’ll be exploring the story of The Knight who wouldn't Fight to fit in with our topic of Castles in History. We will also be writing a recount of our exciting trip to Skipton Castle.

  • Maths πŸ”’ – Our focus will be on place value, mass, volume and capacity, along with addition, subtraction, fractions, length and mass, geometry and time.

  • Science πŸ”¬ – We’ll be continuing to learn about Animals including Humans but this time we will be learning all about life cycles especially that of a caterpillar.

  • PE 🀸 – This half term we’ll focus on invasion games.

  • RE πŸ•‰οΈ –We are covering Christianity, thinking about why Christians say God is a father.

  • πŸ—ΊοΈ History
We'll explore English Castles, where they came from and what their purpose was. We will look at their different features and how they were used. We will be focussing on Skipton Castle and will even be taking a trip there!

  • DT- We are making puppets and pouches in textiles.

  • 🧠 PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education)
Our theme this half term is Rights and Respect, encouraging the children to think about how to be respectful and protect their own rights.

  • Music 🎢 – We’ll be using the genre of Power ballads to practise using our voices and performing.

  • Computing πŸ’»
We'll be learning about Digital Writing.

We can’t wait to explore these topics together and see the children’s enthusiasm for learning shine through. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

If you have any questions about our curriculum this half term, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
