Lots of our children at Crawshawbooth Primary School are extremely active and our after school sports clubs always have a huge uptake. We already offer fencing, dodgeball, zumba, football, cricket, rugby, multi skills and cross country running, amongst others.
We have decided to encourage pupils to sample a different type of exercise, called ‘Nordic Walking’. Hamish Willis and Catherine Hughes delivered the training for our lower junior staff, to ensure they had the necessary skills to teach this activity. The staff found the training extremely beneficial and could see the potential of Nordic Walking to have an impact on pupils who may not enjoy other high intensity sports. Our staff saw that the physical and mental benefits could be highly beneficial for our children, and we hope it will impact on their resilience, teamwork and love of physical activity.
