This is a successful school, and every child plays an important role in maintaining that success. We aim to create an environment that enables and encourages all pupils to achieve their potential and aspire to excellence.
To gain the greatest benefit from their education, it is vital that children attend school regularly. Every child should be at school, on time, every day the school is open, unless there is an unavoidable reason for absence. Missing school disrupts learning, affects the child’s progress, and can also impact the learning of others.
Government research shows a direct link between attendance and attainment. Pupils who attend regularly make better social progress, learn to collaborate effectively, and are better prepared for secondary school, further education, training, and employment.
It is therefore essential that you ensure your child attends school regularly. This policy outlines how we will work together to achieve this. Our attendance target for this year is 96%, but all pupils should strive for 100% attendance wherever possible.
