Seeds and Gardeners

Crawshawbooth has a ‘Seeds and Gardeners’ project, where each reception child (the seed) is paired with a Year 6 pupil (the gardener). The gardeners act as buddies, helping their seeds settle into school during the first few weeks. They meet with them in the classroom, act as role models during play, and play games at lunchtimes to help children gain confidence. Each seed will see their gardener around school regularly, and through this, we aim to nurture every child so that they blossom and shine.

As time goes on, seeds and gardeners take part in other events together, strengthening a lovely friendship. They sometimes write letters to each other, see each other around school, and often exchange Christmas and birthday cards. The project is highly successful and is spoken of with great affection by all who take part.
